I have come to believe that for each and everyone of us life unfolds as it must and we cannot deny those forces that make us who we are. So it is that I came to my current art on a somewhat circuitous route.

After growing up in Germany I came to the US to marry, raise my family, teach, and enter the arena of law. All along I had dabbled in art, teaching primarily folk art drawing and painting. A strong foundation in art history and appreciation for the old masters brought out an innate love for detail which for me reflects the grandeur and beauty of nature and all creation.

Inspired by the beauty of the awe-inspiring Rocky Mountains and simultaneously by the minutiae of nature I now attempt fulltime to depict this grandeur by realistically and in great detail rendering landscapes, animals, plants and fleeting moments in time.

Since time is present in the aged forms of structures or humans it is also present in the split seconds of light and shadow, emotions or the seasons. So it is that I draw old barns, cabins, cowboy and patriotic themes as well as pets, statutes, and old buildings.

In order to achieve the desired amount of detail I use primarily pencil and pen and ink, sometimes with an underlay of watercolor or pastel. However, I also do oils and other mixed media. I continue to take classes to refine and improve my detail-rendering skills so that I am able through my drawings to express with loving respect the beauty around us.
